Workshop on PublicLy Communicating Climate Science In the social media Age

Here’s a video summary of the workshop we organized as part of a team-based seed-project I’m leading at UU on the public communication of science about climate change in the era of social media’s dominance in the media landscape. In the new year, we’ll continue with our activities for this project!

Alongside Professors in the fields of Oceanography and Media History, we were especially pleased to have a climate journalist Ties Joostens from the investigative reporting platform Follow the Money as a speaker, as well as a leading activist thinker Chis Julien from the Extinction Rebellion movement. The event formed the basis of a new network of scholars and societal stakeholders who are interested in thinking together about the complex challenges and potentials that come with communicating about climate science in our increasingly platform-oriented media landscape.
